The model is based on the twin-engine Caproni Ca.310 Libeccio designed by engineer Cesare Pallavicino.
The model is constructed of staggered laminated walnut blocks to prevent deformation under stress, wax-finished, and mounted on a custom-made brass, wood, and iron base.
Good condition. Model dimensions: 25 x 7 x 55 cm – 9.8 x 2.8 x 21.7 in.
It features a striking curved fuselage connection at the base and brass plates used to secure the aileron.
The model comes from the aerodynamics laboratory set up by Caproni at the Taliedo workshops in Milan, a state-of-the-art facility for its time, equipped with a closed-circuit wind tunnel powered by powerful electric fans and ultra-precision aerodynamic balances. The facility was created by engineer Gianni Caproni to refine fluid dynamics and reduce aircraft drag prior to series production.
The Caproni Ca.310 "Libeccio" was born in the mid-1930s, designed by engineer Cesare Pallavicino, technical director of the Caproni group's Officine Aeronautiche Bergamasche in Ponte San Pietro. It was conceived as a retractable-undercarriage evolution of the Ca.309 "Ghibli" for reconnaissance, light bombing, and multi-role liaison. Built with a mixed structure composed of a fuselage in welded steel tube trellis and covered in canvas and plywood, and characterised by a large cantilevered wing entirely in wood, it was equipped with two 470 HP Piaggio Stella radial engines and made its first flight on 9 April 1937 at the controls of the test pilot Ettore Wengi.
Founded in 1910 by engineer Gianni Caproni in Somma Lombardo, the Società Aviatori Caproni was one of the largest and most innovative aviation companies in Italy and the world. After debuting with the Ca.1, the first aircraft to fly in the skies of Lombardy, the company rapidly established itself during World War I thanks to the mass production of famous multi-engine bombers adopted by the Italian and Allied armed forces. In the 1920s and 1930s, Caproni grew into a major industrial group with strategic plants in Milan Taliedo, Vizzola Ticino, Trento, and the aerodynamic research center in Guidonia. During this golden age, the company distinguished itself for its constant drive for technical experimentation, creating iconic aircraft and revolutionary prototypes such as the gigantic Ca.60 Transaereo seaplane and the Stipa-Caproni roll-fuselage aircraft, crucial to the development of jet propulsion. During the Second World War, its factories provided a primary contribution to military aviation with fighters, reconnaissance aircraft, and bombers, but the severe war damage and post-war economic difficulties led to the closure of the historic industrial activities in 1950, leaving an indelible legacy in the history of engineering and flight.

Of course! The legislative decree n. 42/2004 stipulates that who sells works of art or historical and archaeological items has the obligation to deliver to the purchaser the documents attesting to the authenticity of the object, or at least to submit the documents relating to the probable attribution and origin.
