On the sides of the trunk are depicted an emu and a broad-leaved plant. The rectangular inkwell, finely decorated with rounded corners, was made of silver plate or silver alloy, and rests on four feet. On the base are depicted: two primitive men in the act of hunting with a boomerang in their hands, 3 kangaroos and an emu, two crystal ink bottles with pen holders, all the figures were made of cast and silvered metal.
English manufacture for the Australian market dating back to the second half of the 19th century.
In good condition, one bottle has a slight bite and a small crack on the egg.
