1517322386Code 5699 Print by PanckouckePrint by engraving on copper plate from the Panckoucke Encyclopédie méthodique, end of the XVIII century, volume Marine Planches (more than 1,500 figures dealing with all subjects on the marina: planes, construction, carpentry, tree trunks, armaments of maneuvers, ropes, sails, artillery, ship maneuvers and combat tactics). This is the plate n. 127, pag. 146 fig. 1006; with frame cm 54.8x1.3x40.8 - inches 21.57x0.5x16. The prospect of the side of a ship is depicted. The Print has the "Benard direxit" signature. Very good condition.

L’Encyclopédie méthodique ou par ordre de matières par une société de gens de lettres, de savants et d’artistes; précédée d’un Vocabulaire universel, servant de Table pour tout l’Ouvrage, ornée des Portraits de MM. Diderot et d’Alembert, premiers Éditeurs de l’Encyclopédie (The Methodical Encyclopedia or the Order of Materials for an audience of scholars and artists, preceded by a universal vocabulary, which serves as an index for all the work, adorned with the portraits of Diderot and d’Alembert, the earliest editors Of the Encyclopedia) , called also Encyclopédie "Panckoucke", published from 1782 to 1832 in French, is a monumental work based on the Encyclopedia or Dictionnaire of science, art and artists of Diderot and d’Alembert with the aim of improving and completing it.

It was launched by the book seller-philosopher Charles-Joseph Panckoucke, based in Paris, and after his death in 1798, the publication was continued by his generous and associate Henri Agasse (1752-1813) and later by his daughter Thérèse-Charlotte Agasse, widow of the latter.
