1362012134423734Code PR29 OrtacProject coming from the archives of Uffa Fox, famous English ship designer, and never entered the commercial circuit. It is an original project of the boat Ortac, given to the laborers for the construction of the boat in the yard, mounted on a cardboard support to be hung. 1930s. Cm 104.3x0.2x67.8 (h) - inches 41x0.078x26.69 (h).

Ortac, launched in 1937 at the Morgan Giles shipyard designed by Robert Clark, length 10.68m overall, width 3.39m, has a mast rather tail-heavy and it won many races of RORC class. The project is reported in the 1937 volume entitled "Racing, cruising and design with 400 plans, photographs and diagrams" by Uffa Fox, on pg. 40.

The designer of this boat, Robert Clark, was an English designer of yachts, contemporary architects such as Stephens and Giles; he was noted for having designed racing boats able to develop a good speed without sacrificing comfort. Of him projects like the Favona, winner in Fastnet Race of 1953 or the Gipsy Moth III winner of the 1960 solo transatlantic race skippered by Francis Chichester, at the time not yet awarded the title of Sir. Og him also the project of British Steel of Chay Blyth, who circumnavigated the globe surfing the 'wrong side', that is he sailed for most of the time upwind and solo. Clark began to emerge in the late thirties through boats as Ortac. He died in 1988.
