The carp ("Koi" in Japanese) is considered one of the fish with more energy and strength. It is able to swim against the current, and symbolizes the strength to follow its own path and overcome adversity. A Chinese legend tells that a carp went up the Yellow River to the Dragon Gate, and there it turned into a dragon getting the gift of immortality: the moral is that anyone can do great things with willpower.
