The company name was changed in 1872 to Taylor Bros. and in 1900 it acquired Short & Mason (London), founded by Thomas Watling Short and William James Mason in 1875 at 40 Hatton Gardens. For a short time Short & Mason made the Taylor compass in England, but around 1915-1918 the production was moved to the United States.
